Keep your jewellery stored in a cool dry place in an air tight container, such as a zip lock bag or plastic container. Elements in the air will always cause jewellery to oxidize overtime. Humidity can play a role in jewellery oxidizing / tarnishing. So, tight storage is best.
-
Your jewellery should always be the last thing you put on. Avoid using hairspray or perfume when wearing any jewellery. Apply lotion, cosmetics, hairspray and perfume before dressing in jewelry. These products will breakdown the plating on your jewellery, causing them to wear faster. Never shower with your jewellery on.
-
Never expose jewelry to household cleaning products.
-
Try to avoid abrasive cleaners. The driest method is the safest method. Polishing with a damp cloth should be sufficient. Allow the jewellery to completely before storage in air tight container.
-
Keep in mind that some people have more acidic skin than others. Jewellery will wear differently for different types of skin. The better you take care of your jewellery the longer it will last.
-
Never wear jewelry when doing physical work such as housekeeping, gardening or exercise.
-
Never expose jewelry to chlorine swimming pools or hot tubs.
-
When undressing, wipe each piece with a clean soft cloth to remove oils and perspiration.
-
Store in a fabric-lined box, separately or individually - wrapped in tissue to prevent scratches.
